The craftsman who tried

The craftsman sits at the desk drawing out an idea. Enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and some fun music. The idea is drawn and its time to start the work. The craftsman has a big decision to make. The decision of where to start and what is the overall look. Is the final goal to have “a perfect piece of art,” or “is it to have character and elegance of imperfection.” The craftsman chooses the more important choice, to enjoy the work and see what happens. Each project has its own way of speaking and changing as it comes to life.

The craftsman starts to by laying out the background depth concluding a flat background wasn’t a good fit. Waves of elegance and character started come to life, showing how things can last a life time. It also shows how taking a simple break from the regular hussle is a good idea. The mins turns into hours as the craftsman's focuses on her work and doesn’t have another care in the world. With each step the project continues to come to life, with timeless character and elegance.

The work continues with many questions and things to solve. From cuts not coming out perfectly, to struggling to get the “perfect details.” With each possible fix comes a change in the design and having to adapt to “make it look right.” Sometimes there is a question of “can it be fix or will it change the project to much.” Never think you “have to fix everything” in the work piece. It shows that it was made my hand, with love, character, and your human who is enjoying the process.

The hours turns into days. The craftsman notices more that “could be fixed,” or “needs to be fixed,” becoming her own worst critic. The craftsman now has the ultimate question “should I keep going.” With more fine details and wanting to “make them perfect,” cause mental fatigue and more questions. Wonder if its better to “just leave it.” The craftsman goal is always to “give it her best shot.” However with each line, you just never know how much will need to be removed to “have it fix. And with more that is removed the work will change and possibly not for the better. The craftsman works through the all the different angles and "tries her best,” she works through the sandpaper realizing how difficult making each detail perfect.

Through this journey the craftsman realizes the value is more with creating. Creating character and charm with each piece of work. Craftsman realized the value is not through “a perfect work of art.” A craftsman's value is the invested time, giving an honest effort and drive. The value is knowing what is invested, and valuing the character of the craftsman. The art work of a hobbyist has more value from when its created through passion, honest effort, and from the heart. The work will stand independent and through the test of time. Giving a break from the everyday hussle and work load, reminding everyone to take breaks regularly. Craftsman's journey is never ending and each project has many and variety of different challenges. The craftsman learned that a perfect piece is not perfect when you force it. A perfect piece is when the work “says its done.” Because if the craftsman keeps asking and looking a work piece for imperfections it would never get done.
