Its true, the chain is one piece. (video)

Image
I was brave and had some fun with this one. I attempted to weave the chain through the wood. I do really like it. Let me know if you want me to post the unedited video of the process.

The tools are just as or more intimidating when starting

Image
Its hard to know what tools to buy when your starting out. In my 4 years of experience I have tried multiple different ones. The picking is simple with keeping this in mind.     1-     Cost          - Average is important to start because to cheap it will break easy. The second is to expensive can cause fear and other hiccups as well. Especially since its guaranteed there will be failures starting out.      2   -    Size          -     Its important because there is pro and cons with each. Bigger tends to have more power, however versatility cant be harder especially for the smaller and finer details.      Bigger also can be harder to hold     -     Smaller: better for fine details and general carving. Usually not the best when you need to remove alot of bulk material. There is better options. (This is project specific) 3- How it feels in...

No Fluff, Drawing is scary

Image
This video is my explanation of drawing tips that I have found work for me. Like graph peppermint, I mean graph paper.  Stencil application with how to line is up, mounting to the work piece. Also my biggest headache of removing the stencil to soon.

Did I just ruin the project?

Image
I will first start by saying, drawing a butterfly is harder then expected. I wanted the heart to be included for the inspiration of the piece. I will relieve that later. I came up with the design and of course butterflies are symmetrical which again "drawing difficult. Especially when you have curves are involved. Now the tricky question is. What option are you going to use? Or well, how are you going to make the art come to life. The options that I have in my arsenal is to "paint it" (not my ideal option, and still need alot of practice.) Painting for me is a fun way to mix things up, especially if I am not sure "how to." The second option is to wood burn it. It am getting better at this but I still have plenty to learn. Especially when it comes to different wood types. I was away that different kinds of woods burn differently. "yes some are toxic so do your research and stay staff." I can attest after this project, hard wood with straight ish grai...

Spur of the moment video breakdown

Image
The breakdown video The regular Video I am certainly not a public speaker, and this was my first attempt. It was not scripted and spur of the moment for what I saw in the video. Ultimate goal is to point out important parts, keep in simple, and to the point. Still in the working out and figure out the formula for my idea. But have to start somewhere.

Highlight history video

Image
Its been fun making these highlights history episodes.  Im thinking about making a mix of how and execution breakdown videos. But with a twist there simple and to the point. Yes, ive been 2 so far of the "No Fluff".

Simple Tips for "How to start" which is the hardest

Image
To the point tips for crafting   1-                      First step is always the hardest a.     There are many different crafts don’t hesitate to try multiple crafts to find “WHAT YOU LIKE.” 2-                      It’s your journey and crafting investment a.     Keep it simple b.     Be patient with                                                     i.       Yourself             ...

Through the years (picture video)

Image
I got the idea to make a video of the pictures of my projects. I was going to call it "the evolution." Where it would show how my skills have evolved and improved through the years. Honestly however, Looking back I have one made more than I expected. And two, I have no idea exactly the order the projects were made. The only projects that I remember are the first three. Does it really matter. Nope. When I was making the video, I also realized that if I included every picture of the different progress photos. The video would be ridiculous long. Here's to more exploring, learning, seeing what's possible. Most importantly "Having fun while doing it."

Is this one cooler? (Video)

Past project highlights

Episode 2  These videos have been fun to make. Being able to look back at different projects. Seeing how my skills have improved as well.  New project release tomorrow

project highlight collection video

I edited down 4 project videos into one short episode. Should I do more?

Wasnt my original plan

Image
It is set up that it could be made into a clock. My original plan was to put it on wood and I had the idea for how to execute the plan. However in the moment things shifted and I saw the glass jar. Had no idea but "IT JUST LOOKED RIGHT" so I took a leap of faith.

Necklace that's a puzzle (video)

Image
The adventures what creating. I original was going to put the chain on the usual way. But I got a different idea in the moment. Another cool project. Still excited to see what thr future creating has in store.  Full video is on YouTube. Its been fun exploring and trying different video formats. Trying to stay simple and enjoyable.  Video Link

Mandala creation Way harder then expected (video)

Image
This was by far one of the hardest things which I have made. However, there were mistakes from the start. Mistakes in the design which I really didn't see at the start. Ya, I could keep the failures a secrete. However, that is not apart of or the purpose of my Why.  The why I do what I do. The why creating and having a hobby is important. I am a firm believe in the human factor. I am a firm  believe there is more value is enjoying creating, enjoying trying and exploring.  Most importantly a successful project comes in two ways. The first of course "something beautiful" the second is "learning to do more and be better." You cant know unless you try.

It's all part of the process

Image
Its all apart of the process. Ya, some might say your wasting your time or others will say "why even..."Seeing the first photo you might hear "just stop there." But why?  Its easy.... maybe It looks good.. well of course  Why do more it looks OK. Which is true but... Why stop when your invisioning something different.  Why stop when you see potential of making it better.  Why stop when there is more to learn and try. I of course will acknowledge this is project specific and it is possible to over do. You cant however learn whats "To much" untill you get there. One way to avoid the "to much" is taking projects a little at a time. I have learned when my you has to many potential options. The right choice is to take a break. The answer will come with a second look and patients.  True, I am probably crazy and destroyed my idea. Which some would classify that i wasted alot of time, money, effort etc. But I took a leap and tried. The leap t...

Carl The Magician (video)

Image
Its interesting creating different necklace pendants. The ideas which come and figuring out how to make the projects successful. The hard thing is "sometimes success does come." The range of emotions are up and down and usually the easy answer takes a hold. The easy answer of "just giving up." Don't be fooled I have had my fair share of experiences. The experiences which I thought all was lost, both in life and with creating things.   I have learn the most important thing. Which is to "CHERISH THE MOMENT, AND TREASURE THE JORUNEY." The moments of learning, trying, and exploring different and random ideas, the courage and bravery to try something. Making sure you break the steps down into the process you understand and feel like you can achieve. Success doesn't come in a split second and you will not be perfect ever time and with every thing. The cherish moment is believe in yourself to create and know the right time, moment, and your given it your...

Gerard's New Fashion Statement

Image
Yes, more fun with random stuffed animals I own. Yes, I may be collecting a few more to keeping the fun going. I also have the option to dress them up. Whats more cute then a seeing a monkey wear a necklace  Because alot of what I do is random and fun. The simple act of random fun has great power and potential. Because it can have inturn cause a smile and make a person's day.  The YouTube video on the entire project This project in reality was save with a little patients to clear my head. It was also save with a simple quarter turn and the light bulb came on.

Jerrys discovery video

Just having fun posting another creation. And of course having my stuffed animals be models.

The Sunshine pendant (and video)

Image
This necklace pendant was interesting to make. When I first started, I really only had a "kind of" idea I wanted for the boarder. The rest was "on the fly" sort of thing. I wanted it to look like multiple pieces which were "pieced together." The pictures are snapshots I took from the video. I have an idea for creating an "execution idea" Which I example and teach a process. However, in my mind that sounds kind of boring. The idea is still not dead. However, it is taking more brainstorming because I want to make it interesting and of course "to the point." Well enjoy these pictures and the video is at the end of page.  This photo is showing laying out the dove tale lines. So that I know what area needs to be removed. I of course made sure to color what part I wanted to removed. Because with more line can equal "more confusion."  On the 2 side, I for whatever reason. A weave look is pretty cool. The math is of course all free h...

Timeless and Forever, Finally finished

Image
I finally finished it. Alot of sanding. Totally could have done more but the parts missed is character. Plus I strive for being unique, beautiful and treasured, not perfect work. Because perfect work is never ending, plus im human and only can do so much.

Of course it changed at the last min (Video)

A quarter turn

Image
I started this design and as the work was progressing. I determined it wasnt looking right. I cant tell you how long I just sat and stared at it trying to figure out the why. Of course, I hit the creative brick wall. I did some brainstorm drawing in my book, but could not draw exactly what I was envisioning. Even if I tried to explain it, seems impossible.  The crossroads of 2 questions. Do I scrap it or do I take a break? The easy answer is to scrap it and move on. However, you lose the possible potential. There is nothing wrong with waiting and taking a second look. And sometimes, the project plan is a radical shift.  I dont want to waste material, so its always a good idea if there is still life. Take a break and come back. I moved to another project and then came back. I looked and considered my options. I still was struggling untill... I made the quarter turn and everything changed. The pieces started to fall together and it came to life.

The Trailblazing Tiger discovers "video"

More fun with slate engraving. The designs were completely random and in the moment. Yes, camera work needs help.

Oops just happen

Image
The joys of wood carving and being a creater. I was working to get this necklace pendant mounted on a chain. Well I guess the wood had different ideas. But all is not lost. With a little patients, some reworking potential is still possible. Just because the was pieces that broke off, doesnt make the entire project a waste. If you breath and take a moment to look at it with a different perspective, the light of potential possibilities are endless.  Yes, of course its easier said then done. From the heat of the moment, and other factors. However, I do believe with each project the hiccups, Monkey wrenchs, and curve balls. The ultimate gift is the creative training in the works for future projects. And, believing in yourself to cherish the craft and not the oops that happened.

My YouTube Adventure update

Image
My adventure of YouTube and been interesting to say the least. I have had the normal learning curves and many ups and down.  My mission and purpose of my channel is to make enjoyable content. Which people can use to distract themselves for a time. The random distract to destress and relax. Hopefully there is hidden motivation as you enjoy.  I have seen my creativity envolve overtime. Considering I have incorporated my stuffed animal collection into the video/photo shoot. Why, you might ask? The answer is simple. Its fun, I want to, and for the right person seeing my stuff. A chicken modeling a necklace can make a person laugh and possibly make there day. Overall, the support is appreciated. I am always up for a challenge. Youtube channel

Charlie the chicken presents.... (video)

Yes, its random. But I dont care. Its fun to see what you can create. Its also fun to include my random stuffed animal collect. You want to know why, its simple. Because I want to, because I can and so why not. It makes me smile and laugh to see what I can come up with and how funny it is.

Yes, my dad and I compare tools

Image
The farm girl came out the other day. I noticed my camera wasnt sitting right. So the of course the investing took over. Cant blame me for being a daddy's girl. The current task of course stopped because I was intrigued. I find the problem and used my available resources to find a fix.  Yes, multiple attempts to try a function fix due to a small space. I am hopeful.  I am proud to declare that I AM A DADDYS GIRL. According to my mom we have to much fun in the garage. And yes, my dad and I compete in tool collection.
