The Character and Story

How to create something when there is so many ways and forms to chose from. From drawing with pencils, charcoal, color pencils, crayons. Painting, sculpting, wood carving, glass engraving, mosaic, glass stained windows and many more. The form is also different from music, the use of fabric, canvas, paper, and more. The love and passion for the art. The character and story is the true potential and treasure. With many different forms and ways how do you tell a story and make a treasure. 

That comes with memories and feelings. The memories from seeing an object. The reminder of what motivates and drives each and every day. The character comes from being brave and trying. Character is the mission to give the story life. 

I will say there is also the hard truth. The truth of "getting board." The push of "I have to.." "If I dont then what will I have.." "Do I really.." The constant push and keeping busy using your hobby has a distraction to "just stay busy." Its been interesting having a change of pace with creating things.  There has been a joy in trying something new. Exploring different ideas. And of course coming full circle at different times to "just set my mind free." 


When your mom wants a new shirt. Yes, the easier way could be to just buy the same things. But is was more fun to "make my own version." Hand drawn which I am still perfecting my skills. Which of course will take awhile because drawing is difficult.

I took a closer look at burrs under a micrscope

 Had some fun putting the burrs under my microscope and looking at the fine details. Its interesting to see how the burrs are made differently. It shows there are similar but differences between burrs. This first picture shows that tops might be similar however, the one on the right has a different angle. The next two shows that sometimes the tops are flat and will not cut. And sometimes they have the ability to cut. Tip: the top is for smoothing the surface. Its not for primary cutting. The edge cuts better. Diamond bits are good for fine details. They come in different grits. I wish I knew that sooner. More videos and blogs coming soon. I had no idea, no plan, but didn't let that stop me

            Over the past few weeks as you probably could tell I haven’t carved anything new since completing the clock and redoing the other clock. Yes, I still have been creating from painting. Which I can say has been exciting in its own way. It was fun to have a different change of pace and use a different tool. Yes, my knowledge is still limited for how paint works and especially in the way of color theory and how to blend different colors. I am pleased with the result of what I was able to paint. Despite the limited knowledge I have “I didn’t let it stop me.” I do believe this is the bigger lesson which carries the greater value.
