The interesting challenge of...

 


There is two ways to look at projects "or hobbies." Yes, it does depend on the hobby to a point. The first is material which you use to create the artwork. The second way is the tools required to have success. You can explore both the material and the tools. This has been an interesting challenge for me, because I have many options to explore, try, and of course learn different skills. 

Which brings me to the bell. This bell has been on my parents house for over 20 yrs and honestly cant remember nor can my parents. I of course, have gone random inspiration many times. Its interesting to what you act on, and what you don't. The advise which I have is this "learn and have fun." If you set limits on yourself you hobby, skills and adventure will only go so far. 

The first step was some research to learn the process. I have done a little work with brass. I took a leap of faith and had some fun. The result is speechless. Yes, its not perfect but the first time, and you have to start somewhere. The process will only get better. I am of course transparent and will say "not perfect but its only will get better."


Best age from google it was made in the early 1900. It looks cool cleaned up.

I had no idea, no plan, but didn't let that stop me

            Over the past few weeks as you probably could tell I haven’t carved anything new since completing the clock and redoing the other clock. Yes, I still have been creating from painting. Which I can say has been exciting in its own way. It was fun to have a different change of pace and use a different tool. Yes, my knowledge is still limited for how paint works and especially in the way of color theory and how to blend different colors. I am pleased with the result of what I was able to paint. Despite the limited knowledge I have “I didn’t let it stop me.” I do believe this is the bigger lesson which carries the greater value. Cases of the random yard log verses angle grinder

  How does a random log which is doomed for the woodchipper, or the fire pit transform into something elegant and useful. The answer is for it to “pick a fight with an angle grinder.” It also helps if the person holding the angle grinder has brave nerves and an imagination. The discs which are used for woodcarving look very daunting.      The transformation fight continued the next morning despite the operator being sore, especially in both hands. The worker used the lines drawn from the day before and realized more material needed and could be removed. As material was removed there was a shift in the inner transformation. It was found to be better weight loss to connect the holes together in the center, which would forgo the smaller twist. The center holes were connected and the angle grinder concluded they looked like a bug did it. It also helped highlight the other nature bug holes that were found through the material weight loss.
