Precious and Priceless


   I took the time to really let the creativey flow. With each choice and idea, I took the time to consider the options. I made my heart believed the choice was right. My original idea was to make a memory ornament for a friend who lost a loved one. Of course I had no idea exactly what I would make. 
  I came to realize this project helped recenter me for what really matters. With many ideas, the random doodles started to come. I didnt let my mind have control. The real magic comes from the heart. With pondering and research the project evolved to something more powerful and meaningful full. Because I made what felt right and include things I didnt originally considered. 
  I helped ground me to be patient and one with the material I am working with. To take the time needed for each step. Because I dont have to have it done in 1 to 2 days. Sometimes project come through fun and impulse. I have forgotten the fun and impukse designs are right, when the heart wants to be randomly creative. Its when the mind need a 180 shift to help recharge. I realized through this project. A treasure comes from the heart and is made like a diamond with patience and time.

How I started

       After doing research and ordering chisels I wanted to try. The process continued. The first question I asked myself was “what do I want to achieve?” The simple question of “what to make?” Through research and pondering ideas what usually comes to mind is sculptures. Sculptures are and can be breathtaking to look at. Unknowing to people is the amount of effort, skill, and tools required. I had many factors to consider for what to make, but the biggest one was “sculptures can need a good amount of space.” Do not get me wrong, they are beautiful and lovely to look at. I realized starting out I needed to focus on “the average person.” What I could create for the average person and “have a function.” I was also in the mindset that I did not want to “create clutter.” Considering that I am currently living in a one-bedroom apartment, with limited space.
