One Priceless Treasure

  The random pages with many lines and eraser marks. Spending hours today seeing what possibly could be created. However, nothing was looking right. There is and will always be the struggle finding the next idea. However, is the time wasted when nothing is found.  I spent hours drawing and then erasing. With each page that I dont erase shows potential. Each page shows something was developing However something wasnt right. Despite great effort of burning brain cells. The right look wasnt coming.  With each potential idea the special details and elegance takes time to develope. Because a good story and treasure takes time to mature. The right look doesnt come, especially if you over think it. Im unfortunately guilty of this. I probably will continue to be guilty. I dont believe I wasted today. Because the potential is there. Youtube Video Wood, it tends to have a mind of its own. Where it wants to look a certain way. Or it breaks especially if you’re working with the grain of the wood. It’s the most fragile part of the wood. If a project breaks, does that make it a waste? If a project is not going as planned, does that make it a waste?             Today I was working on a small project, and things didn’t go as planned. I had the crazy idea to cut parts off. The general idea looked like a zigzag theme. In the process I proceeded to get inspired to cut at the fold to help transform the back of the work. However, I had already put deep cuts on one side to help create the look. With this and then doing the through cuts. Ya, it broke one me. The small part went first. Today I was pondering ideas but never come find a complete idea. I couldnt find what I wanted the entire project to look like. Boy how frustrating it can be. However, the light bulb came on. I can do a progress idea project. I was able to figure out the boarder. There is nothing stopping me from starting to bring that to life. As the project evolves I know I will figure out the design for the center. I also know I will determine if I want to make a clock or picture frame. Or it might be something completely different. The hard part about being patient, adaptable, and seeing what story the project wants to become. Carving the boarder will start tomorrow.  Update

  Day 2 of my project for the courageous heart I am calling it. I don’t know yet if the name will stick or not. Today, I made a lot of progress on the project. I am estimated to be about 8 ish hours of carving time. Don’t ask me about the drawing time. Besides, why does time matter when you’re having fun creating and seeing your idea come to life. I found today that I would carve for a while and then have to take a break because my hands needed it. However, the break did not last long because I “wanted to keep going.” I was motivated and continued to stay focused. My brain works oddly at times. Guess I was missing a larger project; however, it’s coming alive faster than expected. I know some people might say I am a little fixated on my project “just to get it done.” However, that is not true because I am not shying away from the work.   I have been pondering and wanting to make “a large project.” I haven’t done one for a while. However, I was at a loss for “what to make.” You know the constant struggle sometimes. The other side of the same struggle is “not liking your ideas.”             I am currently making a pendant which “looks folded.” Last night I had an epiphany for an idea. Turn the folded heart idea “larger.” I had this idea when I was supper exhausted last night and when I woke up today, surprised I still remember it.” I have had many ideas when I have been trying to go to sleep and of course loved the idea, however, never remembered them in the morning.             I was slow today starting to draw out my idea.
