Idea change shows an unexpected


My original plan for the bigger design was to leave it square and have the heart look "sculptured." However, when I returned today to continue work, I decided to change my mind. I chose to make the heart be independent like its smaller counter part. Because this design resembles how love and courage is molded and built between two people. But also the courage to love and trust yourself.
Well, I cut the sides at an angle. Yes, I do it by hand and its a challenge to cut and straight line. Part of the reason for the odd cut is, well I dont know sometime it just happens. Most likely its related to how I use the saw and how the work is oriented in the bench clamp. To many factors to consider and its added character thats unique to each pieace. 
The challenge is 2 small holes came to the surface. The dilemma is what todo? Is the project a complete waste? Do I have to completely revamp my idea? Can I fix it? 
The character of the pieace is independent to each work. Its the story of courage, love, and commitment to the journey. 
Im currently not sure what or how I will transform and continue to bring the work to life. However, I do know and believe that with patience and a second or maybe even a third look. Something is possible. Will it come out exactly as expected. Currently No, because of the unexpected holes that have surfaced. Is the idea and current work a waste? Only if I give up to easy, to soon, and to fast. Because something else even more beautiful might be hiding in the mists waiting to come alive.

How I started

       After doing research and ordering chisels I wanted to try. The process continued. The first question I asked myself was “what do I want to achieve?” The simple question of “what to make?” Through research and pondering ideas what usually comes to mind is sculptures. Sculptures are and can be breathtaking to look at. Unknowing to people is the amount of effort, skill, and tools required. I had many factors to consider for what to make, but the biggest one was “sculptures can need a good amount of space.” Do not get me wrong, they are beautiful and lovely to look at. Surplus Mayhem

        Exploring a hobby, especially the resources and material that are needed will be very overwhelming. When I started carving wood, I found a lot of information online very one-sided opinion on tools and the material. The hard thing for a person who is “just starting,” the one-sided opinion can be confusing, intimidating, and possibly expensive. I have made the mistake with other ideas in the past overbuying what supplies I thought were needed and then losing interest quickly. I fell victim to the “you have to have in order to be successful.” Which I have learned not to be true and be dangerous. Dangerous in many ways from, being overwhelmed to “where” and “how” to start.
